Li Jin Solo Exhibition

Context New York 2016

Dubner Moderne is pleased to participate at Context New York 2016, Booth C3, and to present a solo exhibition of new works by Li Jin

Prepared in close collaboration with Dubner Moderne, The Rose Tattoo and A Month of Sundays exemplify Li Jin's ability to explore the immeasurable possibilities of expression, humor and thought with his delicate detail and witty joie de vivre. The works, which are presented as two series, each of 31 individual watercolor paintings with drypoint, depict two scenes of amorous interactions that are as seductively sweet as they are suggestive. Copying himself through the medium of drypoint, Li self-deprecatingly assumes the absurdity of being both master and student within his own painting. Using all of his available artistic tools to transform these two repeated subjects into varied unique works, we are compelled to consider the multitude of emotional responses and the accompanying narratives that these intimacies evoke.

Born in 1958, Li Jin is recognized as a master of Chinese ink painting whose work preserves tradition whilst defining present and future art scenes, He has exhibited throughout Europe, Asia, the USA and his work is part of museum collections including the Hong Kong Museum of Art, The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and the Today Art Museum in Beijing.
